Job Description:

The Assistant Chief Pilot (ACP) is responsible for ensuring all Life Flight Network (LFN) aviation activities are in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations as well as maintaining Life Flight Networks operations manual and specifications. The ACP is the liaison between the Chief Pilot and the line pilots for federal regulation compliance and all aviation technical matters. The ACP is responsible for the day to day management, scheduling and training of all pilots assigned in their region. Will be required to drive personal or company vehicles whenever and wherever business needs necessitate.


This position is subject to the Crew Safe Weight Policy. In the event an ACP exceeds the weight limit, they will be allowed to assume all administrative responsibilities while not on flight status. All other requirements of the Crew Safe Weight Policy apply to this position.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Meets the requirements of FAR part 119.71 and part 135 to hold the Chief Pilot position on an FAA Air Carrier Certificate
  • Requires at least one year of management experience in a hospital EMS transport service or equivalent management experience
  • Requires at least three years of experience as a part 135 pilot in command at a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) program
  • Minimum of 3000 hours of rotor wing experience as pilot in command, 2000 hours of turbine engine time, 100 hours of unaided night-time experience and 100 hours of actual instrument time required
  • 100 hours of Night Vision Goggle experience required
  • Maintains credentials to be a Check Pilot.
  • Current Certified Flight Instructor certification (CFI) preferred
  • Airline Transport Pilot certification (ATP) preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management or a related filed or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization
  • Must be able to take initiative to create, implement and improve procedures and programs
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license, have access to an automobile in good repair, be able to provide proof of auto insurance, meet LFN’s Driver’s Policy requirements and able to travel whenever or wherever business needs necessitate
