About This Role
Responsibilities:
Culture, People & Safety
Develop personnel through delegation of duties, coaching, and mentorship.
Promotes culture of professional accountability, continuous improvement and ownership among core and extended team members
Communicates vision, promotes goal alignment, provides coaching and feedback for performance management.
Establishes long term staffing plans and staffing profiles against forecasted work
Evaluates organizational design and recommend improvements to optimize resources
Responsible for staffing of department to meet manufacturing needs, and the assessment and development of skills and certifications to meet demand requirements.
Interacts with other Managers and Planners to support business and manufacturing priorities
Ensure compliance in all aspects of manufacturing operations to internal procedures, the Quality Management System and ISO 9001/AS9100
Promotes a culture of safety first in daily operations
Strategy
Establishes long term manufacturing roadmaps covering facilities plans, capital needs, future staffing needs considering advancements in manufacturing techniques and technologies
Exerts influence the development of overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization
Proposals, Cost and Budgeting
Manages Direct and Indirect budgets within assigned departments
Manages capital expenses against plan and approved budget
Support in the development and response to proposals for future work
Support in the development of initial program baselines, estimates to complete and responsibilities of a control account manager
Develops, plans, organizes and assigns the workflow of a department (s) and ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
Establishes and maintains organizational benchspan metrics and measures
Manufacturing Execution
Manages product through all stages of assembly and test, through delivery to customer
Manage the aesthetic appearance, maintenance of, and flow of product through the building
Organizes the day-to-day operations and prioritization within assigned work area
Responsible for defect reporting and interruptions to flow, with Root Cause and Corrective Action problem solving
Represents assigned factory areas at program operations meetings
Recommends and justifies capital equipment and tooling expenses required to meet departmental and program needs
Performs administrative tasks including writing employee performance evaluations, analyzing training needs, and monitoring standard work practices in production
Practices Lean Manufacturing principles and concepts
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of industry wide manufacturing practices, standards, and production workflows
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to manage cross-functional teams
Deep expertise in lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies
Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills for data analysis and large scale data interpretation
Experience with MRP/ERP systems; Oracle familiarity preferred, data analysis and performance tracking tools
Knowledge of military and commercial quality standards, including AS9100, and application of statistical techniques
Knowledge of Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRLs) and manufacturing development of new products for successful transition to production
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information across all levels
Technical expertise in mechanical and electro mechanical assemblies, including troubleshooting and process validation
Ability to interpret and analyze detailed specifications, schematics, technical drawings, and procedures
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to identify trends and implement corrective actions
Demonstrated leadership in training, developing, and managing managers and cross functional teams
Proven ability to resolve manufacturing issues across organizations through collaboration and structured decision making
Experience in production planning, capacity planning, and manufacturing strategy (insource vs. outsource)
Background in manufacturing engineering, including design for manufacturability and cost efficient production design
Skills in organizational design, rate management, capital planning, inventory control, and resource planning/SIOP
DoD experience preferred
- Ability to obtain U.S. security clearance
Education & Certification Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of experience related to supply chain management, operations, manufacturing, industrial management/business, engineering, or a related field
Master’s degree preferred
Six Sigma certification preferred
