As a Senior Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering and supervising high-quality primary care and nursing services to eligible staff members and their dependants. The role emphasizes supervising routine health surveillance, pre-employment medical examinations, effective management of chronic conditions and health promotion activities. The nurse will collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to address any healthcare needs of patients, ensure staff meet fitness standards and appropriately refer patients to medical teams for further evaluation. Additionally, the nurse must be prepared to respond to medical emergencies, providing immediate care and coordinating with emergency services as needed ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the patient.
In this role, you will:
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients, overseeing assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning while actively engaging in patient interactions.
- Independently run basic primary health clinics, administering medications, vaccines, dressings, and treatments as prescribed, while monitoring patient responses and training staff in best practices.
- Under take extend primary health care roles such as Cervical Screening, Cryotherapy and paediatric assessments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care, participating in case discussions and care planning.
- Develop and deliver educational programs for patients on health maintenance, disease prevention, and chronic condition management, while also mentoring staff in effective patient communication
- Perform and supervise thorough health assessments, including vital signs, medical histories, and physical examinations, ensuring high standards of care.
- Actively respond to medical emergencies, providing first aid and basic life support, while assisting in training staff to prepare them for similar situations.
- Ensure all nursing staff maintain current certifications in CPR and emergency response protocols and lead regular training sessions to keep the team updated on best practices.
- Supervise and participate in maintaining clear and accurate documentation of patient interactions, treatments, and outcomes in electronic health records, promoting best practices in record-keeping.
- Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and best practices, and contributing to policy development.
- Conduct and supervise thorough wound assessments, guiding staff in determining appropriate treatments and dressings in accordance with organizational policies.
- Perform and oversee comprehensive health assessments for pediatric patients, actively collaborating with parents to gather medical histories and address health concerns
