Position Summary

Position Summary:

This position is crucial within the engineering team, providing technical design expertise in supporting systems projects from initial concept, through development to final production release of the equipment. The job holder would contribute to the technical output of the team on mainly hydraulic components and systems projects on customer applications in Japan and abroad.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibility:

• Design and develop the hydraulic components and applications; pump, motor, valve, cylinder, cartridge valves, Accumulator etc. 

• Application engineering work supports the electric system and components; controller, motor, inverter, etc.

• Design and produce technical drawings for components and system projects

• Produce supporting product manuals, process and project documentation.

• Develop the products and systems within the design team

• Produce and review engineering documents, understand customer requirements and provide responses to technical issues.

• Support business development activities

• Produce technical proposals and quotations for components and system and sub-system projects

• Lead/support the design review process for product release

• Ensures the technical excellence and compliance of the projects within the business unit

• Contribute to improve the way of working within the department

• Liaise with all internal departments to gain understanding / input and ensure a smooth transition of the projects into production. 

• Liaise with Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality departments to ensure standards are maintained.

• Working and troubleshooting with customers.

• Introducing knowledge of hydraulic components to others

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Frequent Japanese and English skills

• Degree qualified in engineering discipline and 5 years minimum experience

• Strong engineering capability including hydraulic components and systems knowledge and experience

• Experience and good understanding of PPAP, APQP and Lean principle preferred

• Software knowledge, experience with programming capability preferred

• Capability for utilizing test devices for equipment.

• Excellent report writing and presentation skills

• Experience of compiling detailed technical drawings

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and team working skills.

• Flexible approach to work

• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

• Business Level English and Native level Japanese
