The Air Traffic Organization comprises 35,000 air traffic controllers, technicians, engineers, and support personnel whose daily efforts keep aircraft safe, separated, and on time. The Program Management Organization (PMO) improves the FAAs internal structures and processes by implementing ambitious transformations in our national airspace. The PMO allows the organization to focus on better outcomes by developing solutions that are on time, cost effective, and within scope.
Duties
The Director, Enterprise Services, is responsible for implementing and executing the technologies and services that connect ground systems and aircraft in the National Airspace System (NAS). The Director innovates, modernizes, and transforms a wide range of safety-critical, mission-essential enterprise systems and services used by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to provide safe, secure, and efficient management of the NAS and international airspace assigned to U.S. control. The Director ensures effective management of integrated portfolios of capital investments and operational assets.
The Director oversees and has direct line authority over approximately 125 personnel, including 30 senior managers. The Director also manages a budget of approximately $2.2B.
Principal Responsibilities
- Provides leadership, direction, and strategic vision to support delivering Air Traffic Controller training across all FAA facilities.
- Directs the implementation of new capabilities, sustainment of current systems, provision of resilient navigation infrastructure, and rationalization of systems.
- Provides air traffic control and aircraft operators with resilient positioning, navigation, timing, and visual guidance services needed for safe and efficient use of the NAS.
- Modernizes and transforms the NAS Weather and Aeronautical infrastructure to reduce the impact of weather and other NAS status changes on aviation to ensure the safest, most efficient air traffic system for the flying public.
- Manages the FAA’s Communication, Information, and Network Programs. Provides communications infrastructure and services for air traffic control within the NAS and the Department of Defense. Manages over 28,000 mission-critical enterprise communication and infrastructure services.
- Represents the FAA in meetings and forums and exercises full delegated authority to commit the FAA on matters pertaining to enterprise services that directly impact the safety and efficiency of the NAS and international airspace assigned to U.S. control.
